I guess it’s a done deal. A 70,000 square foot Renovation Hardware will occupy the space that beloved bistro Pastis had been in (up until recently) in NYC’s Meatpacking District. The renovations will add a huge outdoor space on the fifth floor and a wraparound terrace on the third. Earlier this year, Restoration’s CEO said that he was planning new stores that would offer…
“wine bars and restaurants, performance spaces, courtyards, and rooftop gardens.”
So, one of those outdoor spaces could possibly be a restaurant. And Restoration plans on bringing out something called “RH guesthouse,” in 2016. No word on whether Pastis will relocate elsewhere. How about a smaller version of Pastis, nothing seems to ever take around the corner in Florent’s old space…?
One of the only things I miss about the old neighborhood are these restaurants. Everyone is always romanticizing the Meatpacking of 30 years ago but it was a dump of an area. There were some fun clubs like Hell & Jackie 60, but otherwise, it was just hookers and dead animal parts on the street with a whole lot of not much else. How can you not appreciate The High Line? The new Whitney? –and all the great new bars, restaurants and shops? Yes, there are a lot of tourists but, Hello? it’s called NYC. Enjoy the new good stuff, is what I say.
